Colchester Castle wedding photography
The Wedding of Simon & Zara
Colchester castle must be visual ” the venue ” to get married. Strictly speaking, Simon and Zara didn’t get married in the castle itself, Colchester registry office, photography in the castle grounds, This was done on an ad-hoc basis, luckily the weather was superb, puffy white clouds, blue skies, lots of tourists getting in the way.!
The day started with the Bride (Zara) in bridal prep with family and friends, a nervous time for any bride to be, no Zara was very well composed, in fact, was raring to go! Simon the groom was the nervous one, best man even more so.
Colchester registry office, probably not the most appealing place for beautiful images. Too modern and with no real garden for shots, apart from the courtyard to the rear. With the service taken care of and group and family photo’s done in the limited space available, we went to Colchester Castle. What an eye-opener! the medieval castle, built on a Roman temple with beautifully landscaped grounds. By this time everyone was more relaxed, Simon & Zara looked the part and really happy after the stress of the registry office, the sun was beaming. As with most weddings, everything is going on at a hundred miles per hour, not so with this wedding. We took our time getting the shots the couple wanted, with no time constraints everyone was a little more relaxed. We even managed to get in a load of off-camera flash shots. The only downside to shooting in such a location was the tourists getting in the way of the shots. A good time had by all and I even managed to get a smile out of Simon.
Fox and fiddler, pub. The venue of choice, Colchester being an Army town, lots of references to the parachute regiments, in plaques and pictures, adorning the walls. Most pub venues can be a little claustrophobic, not this place, in fact, it had a real homely feel to it.
Speeches in the bar, a little cramped, but the atmosphere was electric, sure I saw a little tear in Simons eye, maybe not. A few more shots of Simon and Zara outside on the Triumph.
First dance in the bar, quite moving, and as the evening wore on, the humidity of an English summer was felt throughout the pub, a most relaxing evening topped off with an excellent wedding.
